Susan Moore, MSW, Registered Craniosacral Therapist and Certified Yoga Therapist.
I’ve worked in the field of health and wellness for over 30 years. I taught fitness, tai chi, and yoga, served as Wellness Coordinator for the Chicopee Council on Aging, and worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant in orthopedic outpatient treatment. In 2014 I became a Licensed Massage Therapist, followed by training in both Biodynamic and Upledger Craniosacral Therapy. In 2024 I completed a Master’s in Social Work and achieved certification as a Yoga Therapist through the Kripalu School of Integrative Yoga Therapy.
I believe that underlying health is always present, even at the end of life. Health is not something we either have or don’t have, it’s more like a scale that tips toward greater or lesser wellbeing. Sometimes the scale can be overloaded with factors that challenge our ability to stay in balance. Stress, past and current traumas, negative self-beliefs, and lack of resources profoundly affect how we are able to show up in the world. They affect how we move and how we feel in our bodies. I experienced this when facing an autoimmune disorder in my twenties, a result of a nervous system on overdrive from a childhood lacking in safety. Martial arts and then yoga helped me heal my body and my emotions. More recently, two bone breaks due to osteoporosis have brought home to me the realities of aging. For me, health is about the choices and actions that lead us toward inner ease, autonomy, and vitality.
In addition to private practice, I teach massage students at The Massage School, and teach continuing education for massage therapists through Ganesha Institute. My yoga therapy work focuses on healthy aging, working with osteoporosis, and pelvic floor health.
I understood the power of healing touch from a young age. Most of my childhood was spent in the woods of Minnesota, exploring the countryside on the back of a horse. Today I live in Easthampton with my partner Ted, our two German Shepherds, and one cat. The forest is still my happy place but I’ll never turn down an invitation to explore a city.
